Self Portrait Stretch
Location: Dominican Republic
Experience: Uncomfortable but Stretching
I love taking pictures! I love taking pictures so much that I literally have 10’s of thousands. Here is the thing though…I
hate don’t prefer being on the receiving end of the camera. I think this is common for a photographer but as a result, I think that until two weeks ago I had a total of SIX pictures of me from the last 10 years.
On my trip to DR, I decided that I wanted to STRETCH myself by trying some self portraits. EEEEKKKK was this
Darling hubby helped after I set up the shots…..but again….AAAACCCCKKKK…..
No MAKE-UP in this shot….now that is a stretch for me.
I think I let my inhibitions down for two reasons….one…I realize that today is the youngest I will ever be….and two…..
I had quite a few “Shawn-tini(s)” during the week and my brain must have been foggy!
Down home friends and what they say...
Shawn, you are absolutely breathtaking, no make-up and all. The first shot is delightful - frame it for your husband.

BLUSHING RIGHT NOW….you are all very sweet!
Shawn I have been blogging on Tracy Porter’s web site and have come to yours several times since I found it linked from hers.
I want to give you kudos for coming out from behind the camera and taking some of yourself. Mind you I have not found that courage but you have possible inspired me.
I too love pictures can’t even begin to count how many I have. Before digital I would take 10 rolls trying to get that one great shot of my kids, at sports, at home, just trying to catch who they were at that time in their lives…But instead of getting rid of the “bad” ones I just kept them because there was always something cute in them. Anyway… I don’t know how I got off track…My kids now 22, 19, and 17 have started to comment as we go back through the years of pictures…Mom were you even there…we don’t have any pictures of you…we want some…we want to remember you at all the times in your life…..so do it for your kids if not for yourself.
You are so talented…I love your web site. Keep up the good work!
