My little Irish Dancer
When my oldest was three years old, she declared to her Parental Units that she was going to be a “Riverdancer”. She saw the show on PBS and was immediately smitten. At that time, I told her she had to wait until she was six to start. Suffice it to say, it was a long three years for Gaby on this subject. She literally begged to start sooner, but I stuck to my guns. Right before 1st grade, Gaby marched up to me and demanded that I honor my promise. “Ok, Already”. I picked up the yellow pages and started calling local dance schools in the area.
That was 2 1/2 years ago. The day she started, I received an e-mail from the school director who basically told me that Gaby was a natural and could really excel at this thing called Irish Dance. I hate to admit this but I DELETED that e-mail while laughing out loud. I thought…”WOW…this is great marketing. They try to SUCK you in RIGHT AWAY don’t they?” (Nice behavior)

Long story short…Gaby recently became a “Champion” Irish Dancer. What does that mean? It means that she works really hard at something she LOVES. As a parent, I couldn’t be happier for her finding something she is passionate about. It also means that she gets to wear a “solo dress” when competing. We were lucky enough to “adopt” a dress from a little girl from England (thank goodness, because buying new is very costly). The dress arrived today!

I know I am very biased being Gaby’s grandmother, but she is darned cute in that dress and I know how hard she has worked to get to the champion level. We are so incredibly proud of her

Gaby, your face says it all - you LOVE to dance, and it lights up your heart! When you dance I’m sure you share that joy with anyone who sees you! Congratulations on earning the Champion title, and best wishes for your success in doing what you love. The dress is SO beautiful, but the girl within is even more so!
