Hand Painted Love Boxes
January 31, 2009

I visited a friend last year who had a collection of “Hand Painted Love Boxes” of which I was instantly SMITTEN!
These treasure boxes make perfect gifts for girls 8-100 years old.
I purchased this one for my Daughter as a Christmas gift. She loves Russian stacked dolls and green, so I couldn’t resist.

Each box is loaded with detail including a “Quote” inside the lid. This quote says “Beauty will save the World”, Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

Every box is different. If you would like to see more of these special Hand Painted Love Boxes check out Tiffany’s Etsy Shop.

Gifts and Give-Aways
January 10, 2009

Today I lunched with one of my best friends Colleen. Colleen is one of those people that I feel naturally connected to. Not only do I laugh until a need a “poise pad” when I am with her, but it seems that moments of serendipity bite us constantly.
Recently when traveling for Christmas we realized that we were only 2 miles apart on Interstate 95. We had no idea before we left when the other was leaving. I made her stop at the next rest area to snap a picture.
Shawn: Where are you?
Col: In North Carolina.
Shawn: Me too!
Col: I am at mile marker 8.
Shawn: No way, I am at mile marker 11.
This stuff happens to us all the time.
Ok, back to the gifts. The purpose for our lunch was “holiday exchange”. Since we both have a love for reading, we decided many years ago that for Birthdays and Christmas, we would exchange a book. This year she surprised me (broke our pact) with a thoughtful little gift.

She knows how much I entertain and thought this menu-board would be fun in the kitchen. I LOVE IT . After I oohed and aahhed over the menu board for a bit, we moved on to…the book…drum roll please……….
Me: I love it! Thank you. Now you!……drum roll please……..
Col: I love it!
Of course we were cracking up about it…another “SERENDIPITOUS” moment in our friendship.
I picked this book for Colleen, because I had read it and LOVED IT. Seth Godin is one of my favorite writers on Marketing and Business theory. The inside jacket reads “The Web can do amazing things, but it can’t provide leadership. This still has to come from individuals–people just like you who have passion about something”. Seth writes in short essay format which allows the reader to pick up this book and enjoy it for 2 minutes or finish it, like I did, in 2 hours. Every essay can stand on its own but is also woven into a bigger message.
Good News! I have an extra book to GIVE-AWAY!. This is LABF (Lifeatbuttercupfarm)’s first! If you would like to own this book, please leave a comment below and let me know if you have read any other Seth Godin Books. If you have, what is your favorite? If not, just leave your name and maybe this can be your first. Comments close on Sunday Night, 7:00pm EST. I will announce the winner at 9:00pm EST. Good Luck!
