Barn Dreams

What you see here, is what inspired me to turn “Barn Love” into SOMETHING special. Walking into the barn’s loft…looking up….well…let’s just say…I SWOON at the site!!!!

I have ALWAYS dreamed of what this space would become. Watching her TIDY up these last few weeks has been amazing. In order to re-purpose her, we are adding an extensive cabling system to ensure the walls and roof trusses stay sturdy. We are also adding 9 windows and a glass door so that the space will be flooded with natural light. Beams will be added across the loft to add ceiling fans and lights for the evening use.

So what will we use her for???? Drum-roll please………
We are turning the barn loft into a 3 season space for MOVEMENT, MUSIC and CREATIVITY. The loft will house a 24×28 dance floor for Irish Dance and Exercise. We have dreams of hosting musicians for evenings of “Loft Music” and Dinner a couple times a year. With the natural light pouring in through the windows, I will be able to shoot portraits and vignettes for the blog. Our ideas are endless…evening family dance parties, birthday parties…..
We are hoping for a LABOR DAY completion…we can hardly wait.

Hi Sawn.
I am so enjoying these posts of yours! The interior is just breathtaking and your plans for the 3-season barn sound terrific.
If you have a chance, pop over and take a look at one of my older posts (check under the label: Outdoor Wednesday; there’s only one post) which features a local barn in town. (We live in a tiny town on the outskirts of Kansas City.) My daughter attended a birthday party at the barn and the little ones had such a great time.
In April the Farm hosted the English Roses and Herbs festival. Outside of the barn where the most beautiful rose and floral displays. Inside, vendors rented space to display and sell their beautiful wares…mostly vintage boutiques, but a few “farmers market” stands as well!
Take care,
Valerie
P.S. Please excuse the music on my blog, I added it for a blogging costume party that I attended today. The playlist is at the bottom of the blog if you wish to turn off the music! (I like to give folks the heads up in case they are working out of an office.)

Hey Shawn,
I’m enjoying your blog, especially the nice things you said about my son on your 39th birthday. Just love the barn too. I noticed a table outside your mud room. Where did you get it? It’s looks perfect there.
Love,
Loretta

What a fantastic use for a barn! I wish more barns around here were repaired instead of letting them all fall down.
